A little about me...
I am currently a college sophomore and I am the oldest of five. I am also considered the survivor of my family. I am named this because I overcame premature birth. I was the first premature baby born at Kent Hospital (or so my father told me...) and I had a 60% chance of dying.
Skipping to about four years later, I gained a slight hearing lost due to my prematurity and went to a school for children who needed special attention. One day, when my mother and younger sister came to pick me up from school, I began talking to my younger sister. The teacher, who was with me at the time, was astonished that I could talk. When my mother inquired about my education the response was that I was incapable of learning to read and write. So I was taken out of the school system and put into a regular Pre-K school system, where I learned how to write my name and my ABC's.
I didn't learn about this story until after I got into writing poetry, and now a combination of this story, my love for reading, and writing has pushed me to be where I am today, an English major and aspiring novelist.
